As GCSU Food & Bar Officers, we represent the student body on matters relating to meals in College and the College Bar. We also obtain student discounts for GCSU members.

Hall Meals

I meet with the Head Chef every week, so if you have any feedback (positive or negative!) on hall meals, please contact me!

Special Diets

At least one of the options at every meal will be vegetarian.
If you have any other dietary requirements, including vegan, kosher and halal, please get in touch with the Head Chef, Mr Smith, in the entrance to the kitchens (opposite pigeonholes).

Superhall

At least twice each term, there is a "Superhall", where you get to have a longer formal 4-course dinner. Stay on the look-out for notices about this on the meal booking system

Dinner Costs

The GCSU also negotiates on your behalf regarding student charges, and catering charges are a key part of this. If you have any ideas or feedback, I’d be really keen to hear from you.

Caius Bar: Your Local Pub, Your Social Hub

The Bar stocks a range of food and drinks. Prices are very reasonable, generally much better value than your regular bar, pub or coffee house. Visit the bar for:

You can use your Cambridge card for purchases of more than £10 of wine. You cannot use your account to purchase drinks other than wine.

If there are any drinks/snacks we don’t stock but you think we should, please do get in touch and I’ll look into it.

Sports and Events in the bar

We have Sky TV upstairs and downstairs in the bar, and opening times are arranged so that you can catch your favourite sports matches with your favourite drink.

The bar also regularly hosts student events in the evening, making it a great place to relax with friends after a day’s work. The Bar Events Manager and I host a range of events, from Pub Quizzes to Open Mic Nights, hemed events to Stand-up Comedy. We regularly have Caius Jazz, and RAG often help with pub quizzes. If your society or sport wants to organise a bar event, please contact myself or the Bar Events Manager, Joe Ciardiello!
