Sainsbury's "Active Kids" Vouchers

Hi everybody,
Sainsbury's is distributing "Active Kids" vouchers to its shoppers for a short time, which schools can collect and trade in for free sports equipment. If you get any of these, you can stick them in the box that we've put in the plodge, and at the end of the campaign they'll all be donated to The Grove Primary School. It's really easy and some kids will get some new equipment out of it, so definitely take the minute to do it, and you'll feel pretty darn good about yourself. Sometimes the cashiers don't give them to students because they know they have no use for them but you can always ask and they'll give them to you.
Yours,
Sean (se288)

GCSU Wii is back!

After a long hiatus (of about 8 months... sorry about that), we've finally got the GCSU Wii back in the TV Room of K Block! Just in time for Lent term winding down, and of course exam term. There's currently 2 controllers and a couple of games (Mario Kart, Wii Sports, Fifa 09), but we can always get some more if there's enough demand :).

If one of the remotes keeps dying, please let me know and I'll send it off to be replaced. One of them was certainly intermittently dying last time I used it...

Cheers,
Gaurav (gv233)

'Drop drop slow tears': reflective music for lent sung by the Lady Frances Singers

Date:
Saturday, February 27, 2010 - 20:30 - 21:00

Jesus College Chapel

Set in the beautiful intimate surroundings of Jesus College Chapel, the Lady Frances Singers return this term with a concert of meditative and beautiful music for the season of Lent. Music is taken from two contrasting periods of the choral genre; firstly, the works of William Byrd, Henry Purcell and Orlando Lassus reflect upon the great Lenten settings and secondly, William Harris, Herbert Howells and Pawel Lukaszewski present a more reflective image for this time of the year. To add to the wealth of beautiful music on offer, the theme of the crucifixion is taken up by Lotti and Leighton, again two great works with very contrasting musical approaches.

Do come along to what promises to be an evening of wonderful music. We hope to see many of you there.

Admission free.
