Gonville & Caius Students' Union

Barcelona! Caius Holiday 2010!

(The outstanding payment of £51.64 will be due by Sunday 20th June.
Scarily I will be paying the deposit next week of £40 per person so if you
do not get your cheque in on time I will be so far into my overdraft that I
may never eat again! So no cheque by midday Friday = no holiday for you.)

Barcelona has everything; it has an amazing night life with most clubs
staying open until 6am, it has the sea, it has shopping and it has
absolutely tons of culture! September is a great time to visit as it's not
heaving with tourists but it's still going to be lovely and warm (25-30ºC).
Barcelona's definitely one of the most creative, exciting and vibrant
cities you can visit and I literally can't wait!!

If you're interested in coming do please read on for more info:

DATES: Monday 6th Sept - Friday 10th September 2010
(Arrive on the Monday, stay 4 nights (6th - 9th) and leave on the Friday)

ACCOMODATION: La Ciutat Hostel in the Gracia District of Barcelona. £22.91
per person per night (breakfast incl.), will be £91.64 in total. This is an
absolute bargain for Barcelona where accommodation is generally quite pricey. The hostel
is situated next to the famous and beautiful Park Güell, it is a 15 minutes
walk from 'La Sagrada Familia' (Gaudi's epic cathedral that is still a work
in progress) and it takes 15 mins to get by metro to the medieval city
centre and the famed Las Ramblas.

The Gracia District, where our hostel is located, is well known for its
relaxed and bohemian atmosphere. It is home to some of the cities most
amazing examples of modernist architecture, relaxing squares and streets
lined with quirky cafes, bars, night clubs and some of the best restaurants
in Barcelona!

MORE DETAILS about La Ciutat Hostel: We will be based in rooms of 4 and 6.
These are basic dorm style rooms with a sink and toilet. Showers are
communal, linen and bedding is an extra 1 euro 80 a night. Included in the
price is a free breakfast, luggage storage and wifi. There are also loads
of communal areas in the hostel, there is no curfew, reception is 24 hours
and there are self-catering facilities and supermarkets nearby. This is far
from being the Ritz so if you're more SHB than HC I must stress that this
is only hostel accommodation and not a hotel. However, it's in an awesome
location for a very low price and the main thing is that we'll all be
together and pretty much take over the hostel. Also they don't care how
noisy/drunken we are and the staff are very friendly.

TRANSPORT: YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF BOOKING YOUR OWN FLIGHTS. Most airports
offer budget flights to Barcelona. Try airlines such as Ryan Air, Easy Jet
and Jet 2. Book soon to get a good price because the price just gets higher
the longer you leave it!! Book to arrive on the 6th and to leave on the
10th of September.

There is a very regular and cheap bus that connects the airport to the city
centre or you can get a taxi. The airport is 12 km out from the city
centre.

I can't wait! This should be awesome!

Summer holiday love,

Jenny
