Questions to the Exec:
Progress of last week’s action points:
1. Jess: see Karen Heslop regarding recycling in rooms and in the computer room.
Rebecca: Met with Karen, she said she’d try and get bedders to take bags to Freshers’ Room- so we’re to speak with them. Looking to get some in external houses. About recycling in computer room, suggested we get in touch with an outside company. We’ll just try and get a bin in there.
ACTION: REBECCA
2. Food & Bar: book next terms Superhalls in weeks 3,5 & 7.
Got three dates which we have to run by Tony.
Kirsty: at Selwyn formal were able to reserve sections of a table for certain groups, this would be good for Superhall.
Adam: already available through the kitchen office.
3. Alex: send out a separate email about MDR exceptions
Done.
4. Welfare: continue to chase up Tony about the drinks machine.
Coming up later.
5. Astrid: email students asking about bursary problems
Done
6. Sarah: chase up Russ regarding George Foremans in Harvey Court
Said Martin is bringing that up on Wednesday SDSC and so will be discussed there.

Gender Forum Results
Men are better represented in college life, to have more pictures of women around. Also tied into fact that women had late entry therefore alumni photos don’t include them. Focus on past and history. Entry system thought to favour men- not caius specific. Must emphasise ensuite bathrooms and taxi service. This has been passed onto Dr Bell.
Elunyd: looking at relighting some areas of Cambridge, around Kings and Clare etc. We’ll need to get more pictures of women sent to the archivist.
Martin: netball, football and rowing.
ACTION:ELUNYD

SDSC
Student Domestic Sub-Committee meeting next week, this is where we meet with all college’s heads of departments and hold them to account. If there are items to raise or if anyone would like to come, let me know.
Bandwidth emails & limit
Limit now up to 7GB and new emails tell you how much has been used from Saturday midnight, giving a better representation of how close you are. Any feedback can be communicated.
Coffee machine in library foyer
Tony demonstrated it to me. You take cups with powder contained and add some hot water.
Jess: are they recyclable? As this is something that’s been brought up since the conception of the machine therefore it is a requirement.
Martin: come along to the SDSC to review the machine. Plan to be brought in by the end of this term.
Cycles in St Mikes
Russ is annoyed by them getting thrown around. Now that a ramp has been installed, the top should be used more.
Debit Card Machine in bar
If we had this would have £5 minimum spend.
Kirsty: better if you don’t have cash, only need to purchase two drinks.
GCSU annual dinner
Booked for 3rd March in the Senior Parlour.
Underbar pool table
This is under our control, I have a key. We need to maintain it and try and encourage use.
Elunyd: is there a pool society?
Martin: yes there was a tournament held previously.
Maya: has it been fixed?
Martin: unknown
ACTION: F&B
Bar code of conduct
Looking to implement voluntary rules to students being in the bar, due to glasses getting broken. We’ll implement a rule saying students shouldn’t take their glasses outside.
Maya: what about smokers?
Martin: they can leave their glasses inside and go for a smoke.
Maya: use alternatives of plastic cups
ACTION: F&B
AOB
Philippa: politics talk is on the same night as the bop; the former finishing at 10:30pm. Will this be problematic?
Pippa: we could just give them entry after 10:30pm.
Maya: we’re going ahead with the JCR warming on the 29th Oct in Harvey Court from 5-6:30pm. Chance for people to drop in and have mulled wine and mince pies.
Bruno: can we do a Freshers’ secret santa there?
Maya: yes sure.
ACTION: BRUNO
Elunyd: NUS survey says 68% of women have been sexually harassed in university. CUSU and womens’ forum have been campaigning this term to draw up a document for colleges defining sexual harassment, staff conduct and procedures taken by individuals and the college in response. I think this should be included in the Freshers’ Guide next year.
Pippa: Maybe include it in college’s rules and regulations book.
Catherine: many people who’ve emailed Karen Heslop have found that she’s ignored them. She is also ignoring me.
Sarah: She does reply, even if she doesn’t things get fixed.
Maya: maybe those with problems email Catherine and she sends one email daily/weekly with all the problems. Ask Karen to have a drop in time weekly.
Martin: you can go and see David Watson at any time. Go and see her in person.
Gordon: I’ve written a paper asking college to reduce our MDR by 4 in Easter Term.
Action Points
1) Rebecca: put a recycling bin in the computer room.
2) Food and Bar: examine the pool table in the Underbar and get it fixed if required. Also, update bar code of conduct and decide on how to continue drinking outside without breaking glasses. Update Ed Davey on progress. Finally confirm the dates of the three superhalls next term.
3) Bruno: advertise JCR warming in Harvey Court to Freshers.
4) Elunyd: Get women's pictures displayed around college and to the archivist.
